POETS across Northern Ireland are being encouraged to enter a national poetry competition.
Now in its fourth year the Funeral Services Northern Ireland National Poetry Competition are looking for poems about LIGHT this year.
Light is the theme for this year’s National Poetry Day on Thursday October 8 and organisers are hoping to see whole host of styles and genres being entered in the competition.
They want to know how the word “light” inspires our local poets of all ages and capabilities.
The overall prize fund is £800 breaking down into £400 for first prize, £250 for second and £150 for third.
The main event will take place in the Long Gallery at Parliament Buildings, Stormont on Thursday October 8 where ten short-listed entrants from across the country will be invited to recite their poems before the overall winner is announced.
