TOURISM NI has been voted Best Tourist Board by Irish Media at the annual Blue Insurances Travel Media Awards in Dublin’s Westbury Hotel.
This is the fifth year in succession that Tourism NI has beat off stiff competition from around the world to lift the prestigious award which is voted for by Irish media and independently audited and managed by the Department of Tourism at Dublin Institute of Technology.
Last year (2014), Northern Ireland experienced growth of 14 per cent in holidays from the Republic of Ireland, generating an impressive 19 per cent increase in spend.
Early figures for the first quarter of 2015 indicate an increase of approximately 11 per cent in total trips from the Republic of Ireland which is one of Tourism NI’s key external markets.
“We are very proud to be voted Best Tourist Board for the fifth consecutive year” said Tourism Northern Ireland Market Manager (ROI) Fiona Cunningham, adding: “It is particularly gratifying that these awards are voted for by the Irish media as they play a vital role in informing listeners, viewers and readers of all the attractions and events taking place in Northern Ireland.”
