Fujitsu Treats Shoppers To “Something Different” With Action Cancer

A TEAM of volunteers from leading Japanese ICT company, Fujitsu, demonstrated an eye for retail as they recently took-over Action Cancer’s bespoke Something Different store on the Lisburn Road in an Apprentice-Style fundraising challenge.

Known as the Care Shop Challenge, the take-over is part of a wider campaign to help raise awareness and support for the charity.

Fujitsu – an official sponsor of the Rugby World Cup – enticed customers into the shop with refreshments throughout the day and an eye-catching rugby themed window display.

Shoppers were also able to enter a raffle with prizes including a day spa treatment for two at the Culloden Estate and Spa and a bespoke Ulster rugby cake.

The company secured donations of items from staff, family, friends and members of the public in the run up to the take-over, which then were sold in-store to raise money for the charity.

Greg McDaid, Client Managing Director Fujitsu UK and Ireland said: “We are delighted to support Action Cancer and the vital services they provide throughout Northern Ireland.

“The Fujitsu team took the Care Shop Challenge very seriously – researching our tactics and promoting it for weeks in the run up to the take-over – and we were delighted with the response from the local community in South Belfast.”

The group of volunteers from Fujitsu were one of 14 teams taking over Action Cancer stores across the country as part of the annual event organised by Business in the Community.

All funds raised during the challenge stays within Northern Ireland to provide free services such as breast screening, complementary therapies and counselling to local people.
