CELEBRITY Big Brother star Calum Best has revealed he’s “anxious” about his forthcoming theatre debut.
The handsome son of Belfast footballing legend George Best will play the role of Prince Charming in Cinderella at Liverpool’s Epstein Theatre.
Running at the venue from December 10 until January 3 Calum admitted he was “anxious” but “excited” to take on the role.
He said: “This is my first panto; it’s anxious and daunting but I’m excited.
“I wouldn’t really say I’m nervous. It’s just a case of getting on stage.
“What will really help, though, is when I start rehearsals and get on stage.
“Once I see the crowd’s interaction, I’ll be alright.
“I’ve done so many things that are new that I know once I start it will be sweet.
“But at the back of my mind is ‘oh, what if I forget my lines?’ It’ll be fine.”
Although the panto will be live it’s not Calum’s first acting role.
He recently finished filming for his role in indie film Requiem.
The film, which is described by producers as “a story about a suicidal girl falls in love with a fallen angel” is due out in 2017.
Speaking of the film Calum said: “It’s a bible story about a good group of angels and a bad group of angels.
“They’re all unknown actors, but all are pretty good at what they did.
“I play the most twisted one of the bunch, am quite dark in it, but it was another new experience.
“Film is what I wanted to do when I was a lot younger but never got the chance to do it. I got caught up moving from Los Angeles to England.
“I lost my path and this is just one of the many things I wanted to do.”
Calum is also rumoured to be set to star in sports action film Enter The Cage, due out in 2016.
Directed by Kevin McDonagh the film tells the story of a future where cage fighting is “the only sport the counts” according to one production source.
The source added: “Calum Best is a perfect candidate for the role we’re looking at him for because of his physique and his interest in the sport.
“The plot surrounds a small semi pro team that are given the chance to fight against one of the largest teams in the country – meaning it could be the answer to their financial problems.
“But they must put their lives on the line to fight in the cage of death against some of the most vicious and deadly fighters in the world.
“They don’t stand a chance, until a dark stranger with a darker past enters their lives.”
