Derry Ranked Best Number One Halloween Destination

USA Today’ Best Readers Poll ranked Derry as the number one ‘Best Halloween Destination’ and this year will be no different.

From 16 October to 1 November there are all sorts of weird and wonderful creatures awaiting unsuspecting visitors in Derry. Halloween fans can look forward to ghost bus tours, street performances, a freaky fun fair and the terrifying Chateau le Fear over the course of the festival.

Also returning this year is the ‘Awakening of the Walls’ when the historic city walls will be transformed into a theatrical dream-world of light, fire and sculpture.

For the first time ever Derry’s Guildhall Square will be transformed into a ‘Gruesome Centre’ for family fun and spooky live performances. Meanwhile, Derry’s Craft Village will turn into Rio Bravo Fiesta – providing free music and entertainment for families, including story-telling sessions and live music as well as mask making and pumpkin decorating workshops.

Melvin Sports Complex will be home to Halloween puppet and design workshops in addition to a Halloween fun day and the Alley Theatre will host Trick or Treat tours. To top of this year’s Halloween experience, a firework display is set to take place along Derry’s River Foyle and at the Main Street Car Park in Strabane on 31st October.
