AN Emmy-nominated make-up artist is set to host a series of workshops in Belfast.
Brian Kinney, make-up artist on the box office smash Hunger Games will be appearing at The Mezzanine, MovieHouse Cinema on the Dublin Road on Tuesday November 24.
The make-up artist will be appearing at to conduct a series of work shops for aspiring make up artists.
Brian, from Los Angeles, boasts more than 15 years of experience in the industry and will be taking 40 young artists through classes focusing on the style made famous by the franchise, coinciding with the fourth and final film’s release on 19th November.
His work can be seen in various popular productions including The Purge: Anarchy, CSI, Mad Men and Supergirl.
Brian is supporting a partnership between Titanic Creative Management and the MovieHouse (sponsored by Arts & Business NI) to develop local talent in line with the growth of NI’s film production industry.
Currently, there is little opportunity for local students to work in this area of the film and television industry, particularly those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The jobs for productions such as HBO’s Game of Thrones are available exclusively to those who have had the necessary opportunities for training. Budding Irish artists often have to travel to the UK mainland to undertake expensive courses, so this partnership is a fantastic step in the direction of including local talent in the process.
Keep an eye out for my full review of the workshops next week in BAM.
