You Win Or You Die: Game Of Thrones Season 7 Predictions

The #ThroneWatch Small Council have gathered and the reports are in. Game of Thrones Season 7 might be a year away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate on the events that could change the course of the game.

gotOf course, theories are just that. But remember R+L=J AKA Jon Snow’s parentage? GoT fans are a quick-witted bunch and have decoded several plot lines in a show that is anything but predictable.

What we can be certain of is plenty of large-scale events that bring the story together and rival the jaw-dropping revelations of Season 6. Game of Thrones showrunners David Benioff and and D. B Weiss have consistently managed to outdo themselves and have also known the ending for some time. In a recent interview with Deadline, Benioff said: “The pieces are on the board now. Some of the pieces have been removed from the board and we are heading toward the end game.”

Daenerys And Jon Snow Will Team Up

Now we know that Jon is half Targaryen it’s almost inevitable that he will finally meet Daenerys. Being the only two remaining Targaryens, it’s likely that they will be fighting for a common cause and Cersei’s reign will be heavily threatened.

ep60-ss10-1280According to theory of the Prince Who Was Promised, A Wiki of Ice and Fire notes that “Azor Ahai will be reborn amidst smoke and salt wielding the flaming sword Lightbringer to defend the world from R’hllor’s nemesis, the Other.”

If Jon Snow is indeed the promised one, his role will be key in defeating the White Walkers. However, as much as fans would love to see Jon and Dany atop the Iron Throne together, the likelihood of this perfect scenario is slim…It’s Game of Thrones after all.

Quaithe Of The Shadow Will Cure Jorah’s Greyscale

While I doubt he’ll make it to the final, we haven’t seen the last of Daenerys’ right hand man/stalker. USA TODAY have shared a Reddit post that may indicate his return will involve meeting another character.

jorahIt has been speculated that Quaithe, the mystical, veiled woman he met in Quarth, will use her magic to cure his Greyscale.

Earlier in the series, Quaithe tellingly told Jorah: “This man must sail past Old Valyria. All who travel too close to the Doom must have protection.” She also helped Daenerys and Jorah find the stolen dragons in Quarth, so it’s possible she will serve another purpose in the next season.

Sansa, Jon And Little Finger Are Due A Conflict Of Interest

pbWe all know Little Finger is one of GoT’s most scheming characters. In Season 6 he planted seeds of doubt in Sansa regarding Jon’s claim as King of the North and also made clear that he aims to sit on the Throne alongside her.

Sansa Stark’s character has gone through major development and she is definitely going to play a big role in the next season. While she has never been power hungry, there’s a hint that there will be some major conflict between her and the supposed “bastard” of Winterfell…and Little Finger will probably at the wheel of the operation.

The Wall Is Coming Down

Bran’s story is still filled with holes but we do know that he plays a vital role in the whole war against the Army of the Dead. Given his visions and contact with the Night King, he will most likely have a lot to do with the Wall coming down and the beginning of The War To End All Wars.

And according to scriptwriters, Death is coming with it. David Benioff told Deadline: “What is laid out in this season is, very clearly, that the wall isn’t just a physical structure keeping the army of the dead out.”

We Will See A New Side To Cersei…But She Won’t Last Long

Her reign is not going to last long given Daenerys’ arrival and the Starks’ recent successes, but that doesn’t mean Cersei will slip away quietly. She has been a major character from the beginning, but without any heirs left she has nothing to lose and her motives have altered.

Game of Thrones writer D. B. Weiss told Deadline, “Who is she without her children? The answer is something you’ll find out next season.”

Her brother also Jaime returned to King’s Landing to see her sitting on the Iron Throne and it seems he recognises the danger of this situation. Will he be forced to become a Kingslayer for the second time? As always with Jaime, there will be a conflict between morality and loyalty either way.
