Get to know more about J. E. Lindsay:

Rhythms Of My Young Heart FINAL 3DHow did you get started in the industry?
“I think I’ve always been a writer, for as long as I can remember I’ve been writing poetry, songs and short stories. It honestly never occurred to me to make a living out of it, and only recently decided that I should follow my passion because life is too short to be doing something that I don’t love doing.”

What genre / style do you create in?
“My poetry book is mostly love poems, but my novel is a crime thriller. I’m almost certain that any novels I release in future will have some element of crime in them.”

What would you be best known for?
“Hopefully soon enough I’ll be known for my crime novel, ‘Dr Kingston’.”

What would you consider your biggest achievement?
“Honestly, it’s finding someone who is willing to publish my work. I spent so much time reading other authors saying that it’s almost impossible to find a publisher and I thought that my books would go undiscovered, but now there is a platform for me to build a readership.”

What would you consider to be the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your industry?
“That there is way more to writing a novel than just thinking of a cool story and writing it down. It really is a labour of love.”

What has been your biggest challenge to date?
“Finishing my novel. I am a huge procrastinator but I’m almost at the finish line and I cannot wait to have a completed novel in my hands.”

PLUG !! What would you like us to tell people about?
“My upcoming crime thriller Dr Kingston – set in Belfast. A lecturer in QUB with a wife, quiet life and sinister hobby. Dr Kingston appears to be a model citizen, he has a respectable job, a beautiful home and a loving wife, however, he is harbouring a deep, dark secret. He has been masterfully hiding a sinister hobby for most of his adult life, but when one of his students catches his attention, he becomes careless and clumsy. With detectives hot on his trail, a wife badgering him for a baby and a lustful eye for his student, will he be able to juggle everything without slipping up and getting caught?”

If you had to describe your work to someone who has never heard of you what would you say?
“I would hope that it’s easy to read with a few twists and turns to keep the readers attention.”

What would your advice be to young people hoping to pursue the same industry?
“Go for it. Believe in yourself. Write a lot, read a lot, and keep on going.”

Who do you look up to and why?
“In this industry, I would have to say Martina Cole. She spends a lot of time researching her stories and has always managed to keep me in suspense when reading her books. I think she has got a brilliant imagination and a natural talent for story-telling.”
