Belfast’s Hazelwood Integrated Primary School and Nursery has scooped a Families First Award for Best Nursery, receiving recognition for the work with children with special needs as well as the overall achievement.
The prestigious award acknowledges the work of the staff team as well as the wider school community.
Reacting to the award as ‘Best School Nursery for their amazing work with special needs (Winner)’ principal of Hazelwood Integrated Primary School and Nursery, Mrs Murtagh said everyone was extremely happy to receive the honour
“We are delighted that our wonderful nursery has been commended for the amazing work they do with all of our children but in particular those with Special Educational Needs,” she said.
“The staff team led by Patricia Douglas work very hard to motivate, to nurture and to lay a solid foundation for our children on the basis of which they develop through Primary School and beyond.
“We believe that at Hazelwood Nursery our children have a wonderful start and that it has been publicly recognised is an appropriate tribute.”
Mrs Douglas from the Nursery said: “At Hazelwood nursery all the staff work incredibly hard to give our children the best experience we can.
“We aim to enrich their lives every day with a variety of activities and learning opportunities as well as creative and fun play sessions that help them express their individuality.
“We are absolutely thrilled to win this award, I have to say a big thank you to all the staff, parents, families and the wider community who voted for us and left some incredibly kind comments about the work we do and the experiences the children have with us.”
With that award under their belts the entire staff team are now focussed on working towards the final term and all that means for the ‘graduates’ of the nursery as they move to the primary school.
