When it comes to finding things to do with a 4-year-old over the summer nothing can quite match the excitement of finding a super heroes event nearby.
I recently set up a group for Logan’s class parents as we head for the “big school”. I’d hoped we could meet up with other kids heading to P1 over the summer and share info on things to do and places to go.
RESULT! One parent (of mini Iron Man above) highlighted the Loc Down Events Superhero Academy happening on Sunday July 9 at the Girdwood Hub in North Belfast.
On checking it out I found it was £15 for an hour and a half with a series of superheroes…I’ll be honest, I thought there was a catch – like having to pay for pictures or something once we got there.
Not a single catch. This was one of the most fantastic events we’ve been to in a while. Not only did Logan get a full hour and a half of rigorous exercise as Batman and the team worked the kids through their paces but he had the opportunity to get up close and personal with all the heroes.
The shock on Logan’s face was priceless as The Wolverine approached him. It’s only recently he realised he was named after the X-Men star. This was his first time meeting him in person. Excited doesn’t even begin to cut it, he was completely and utterly flabbergasted.
Next up was Spiderman. You won’t believe the joy it brings to a small child when Spiderman danders up to him and calls him by his name. “He knew my name mummy” exclaimed Logan. What a brilliant touch that the actor remembered this from their last encounter, it made one little boy’s day!
One by one the super heroes arrived with Captain America, Blue Power Ranger, Harley Quinn and Batman coming in much to the delight of all the mini super heroes in the room.
Logan loved every minute of the event led by Batman, the assault course, the games, the bouncy castle and I think he may have fallen in love with Harley Quinn, he’s taken quite a shine to “that girl” lol
All in all this is definitely a 5* event for any little one, boys and girls. One thing that’s definitely worth noting is how each of the super heroes made an effort to interact with all the kids and ensured they paid particular attention to one child with special needs making sure he didn’t feel left out of the crowd.
The guys at Loc Down really were super heroes today!
