Local artist and care worker Michael Ferrin specialises in striking animal and celebrity portraits. Developing his painting skills over the last 18 years, Michael is also a tattoo artist and is constantly expanding his portfolio.
48-year-old Michael is based in Belfast and is also a day care worker with adults with learning disabilities.

How did you get started in the industry?
I’m a self taught artist from the age of 30.

Realism with fine detail.
What would you be best known for?
I am best known for animal and celebrity portraits.
What would you consider your biggest achievement?
Apart from being a father, having some of my work on display in Eakin Gallery.
What would you consider to be the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your industry?
To remain focused on my end goal despite the knockbacks along the journey.
What has been your biggest challenge to date?
Getting people to notice my art.
Tell us a little about your personal life, are you married, kids, hobbies etc?
Single, two daughters aged 20 and 23. I walk my dog twice a day as I enjoy the exercise. I also love tattooing on the weekends.
Tell us about your most recent work?
I’m currently working on a large leopard piece.
