Will Sharon Osbourne Split Belfast Mother/Daughter Duo Descendance On X-Factor Tonight?

A mum and daughter duo from Belfast are set to take the X-Factor by storm tonight as the judges decide it’s time for them to go their separate ways.

Debye (40) and Hayley (20) may have two decades between them in age but as most people know the pair are like sisters or best friends so tonight’s episode is set to be an emotional one.

Best known in the local scene as Descendance performing at open mics and talents competitions Debye and Hayley first got together as a duo in 2015 when they set off for the X-Factor.  Unfortunately, they didn’t make it through but it didn’t deter their dream.

Originally from Canada, Debye and Hayley now live in Northern Ireland and have spent the last few years pursuing their singing dreams.

Judges on the show mistake them for sisters as they reveal their true relationship.  But the girls reveal: “Everywhere we go people either think we’re sisters or best friends” and add they have a “bond” that “no one could ever break”.

But the judges had other ideas in mind.  They decided to test the mother/daughter bond.

After they belt out Macklemore, Can’t Hold Us for their audition Sharon Osbourne exclaims: “Well, where do I begin?”

And it’s Sharon who suggests Debye should take a back seat adding: “You need to be there, but in a different aspect.  What you’re doing now is odd.”

However, Debye doesn’t think so.  She retorts: “We don’t think it’s odd though. Honestly.”

Eventually Simon Cowell chips in: “I’ve got to be honest, this is not great… but it’s quite rare we see someone like you [Hayley].”

Hayley doesn’t want to do it without her mum and says: “I wouldn’t do it with anyone else.”

Of course the girls can’t reveal whether they split or not due to contractual agreements with X-Factor but one thing’s for sure it seems their experience hasn’t broken the bond.

Speaking on her Facebook page earlier this month Debye said: “So proud of how much we have evolved in every way.  I could never imagine singing with anyone else than my Hayley for the bond we share is like no other and no matter what the future holds we will always stand strong together.”
