Stunning singer Shania Twain has claimed she wasn’t always the beauty that has entranced fans for years.
The Canadian singer/songwriter claimed it wasn’t until after she left high school that she found her “prettiness”.
Once she was fronting bands Twain realised she needed to discover her beauty. She even took lessons from dancers on how to walk in high heels when on stage.
As she prepares for her 2018 tour which comes to Belfast’s SSE Arena on Saturday September 29 and the release of her new album Now this month Twain confessed to not being blessed with natural good looks in an interview with ‘Instyle’.
“Since I was such a late bloomer, I think I liked the indulgence of getting dressed up. It was a new playground for me — picking the fabrics, colors, and images was a very creative process.” She said.
“It wasn’t just about what to wear to go out on a Friday night. It was about becoming an artist.”
Earlier this month Twain played at the BBC Radio Two Hyde Park Festival, wowing crowds with her songs and her look, something she is considering carefully before hitting stages next year.
“I’ve also got some new cat suits for hitting the stage! They’re so comfortable, like pajamas,” she said.
For Twain the new album is offering her the chance to explore where she has been.
“The journey has been lifelong. There were many layers that had built up to this bottle neck, and in reviewing my whole life, which I did through writing my autobiography, I was taken back to the very beginning.
“It made me realise, ‘Wow, my divorce is actually not the worst thing that’s ever happened to me.’
“Songwriting is my psychiatry session,” the Canadian said.
