Country music hunk Derek Ryan has just dropped his latest single from the album The Fire.
Down On Your Uppers has been described as “innovative” and “contemporary country music genius” by critics and the fans are just as mad about it.
Derek shot to fame in the boyband D-Side in the early 2000’s as a fresh-faced 17 year old with pop boyband D-Side, who enjoyed three UK top ten singles, before going their separate ways.
A well known singer across Northern Ireland Derek is especially popular with Belfast fans who embraced him in his boyband days and still, to this day, continue to follow his progress.
According to Derek Down On Your Uppers is a phrase originally used to describe people who had badly worn shoes.
In 2017, Carlow born Derek has fulfilled many career highs – from his Rose of Tralee performance, to a sold out arena show at The Farmer’s Bash in the SSE Arena, Belfast. He continues to stay at the cutting edge of the Irish country scene with his unique sound and strong song writing skills.
As well as recording his own songs, he has also written the title track for Philomena Begley’s latest release, in addition to writing for a host of other artists who have picked up on his material.
To date Derek has released six best-selling albums to date, and shows no signs of slowing down, with Christmas and New Year shows ahead, and a new tour kicking off in January 2018.
