There’s not a lot worse than waking up, glancing in the mirror and discovering dark circles under your eyes.
It always seems to happen at the worst possible time.
I’ve found a few ways to combat the dark circles so they don’t stop me from looking my best.
Here’s five ways to get rid of dark circles…
- Get Some Sleep!
There’s nothing more natural than beauty sleep. I’ve found that by getting around 9 hours of shut-eye a night, there’s no chance of waking up to dark circles. Not only does this allow me to de-stress and prevent any lines forming around my eyes, but it also helps the skin around my eyes to rest and look full of colour the next day.
- Apply Concealer
The perfect cover up. It won’t get rid of the dark circles, just hide them for the day. This quick fix is so simple and easy! Find your favourite brand of concealer, make sure it matches your skin tone and apply it across the dark circles. Blend the concealer with the tops of your cheeks to make sure it looks natural. Top Tip: Don’t use too much concealer or it will look cracked on your skin – not a good look.
- Give Yourself The Spa Treatment
The amazing powers of cucumber slices are not a myth. They contain properties which reduce puffiness and refresh the appearance of skin so by placing a slice over each eye they can get rid of dark circles in less than fifteen minutes, perfect for a quick fix when you’re in a rush. If you don’t have any cucumber in, slice up some potato and get the same effect.
- Treat Your Skin
Get your hands on an eye cream, preferably one containing vitamin K and retinol. That’s because dark under eye circles are often caused by a deficiency in vitamin K. Even if yours isn’t, the combination of vitamin K and retinol works to reduce puffiness and discolouration, leaving you’re the skin around eyes looking healthy and refreshed. Top Tip: If you’re trying a new cream dab a bit on a patch of skin on your arm first to check you aren’t allergic to it.
- Clean Up Your Diet
Doctors reckon that under eye dark circles are mostly caused by poor diet and dehydration. With that in mind, a great way to avoid dark circles is to make sure you’re eating plenty of fruit and vegetables and drinking enough water. It might sound simple, but the results can be amazing!
