RESIDENTS of the Riverdale Estate, Anderstown have expressed their rage over the alleged failure of the Charity Commission to investigate their landlord, Victoria Housing Estates.
Tenants of the estate recently learned that Victoria Housing Estates was a charity, and claim their housing needs have been ignored and vital decisions taken without consultation.
Having recently established themselves as a tenants’ association residents of Riverdale claim that the Charity Commission has previously refused to meet them but will now sit down with them on February 2nd.
Joby Fox, Chair, said, “The fact that the Charity Commission has consistently refused to meet us, the sole victims in this sorry débacle, only until recently is a disgrace.
“A satisfactory resolution to this injustice is not just of importance to the people of Riverdale and Finaghy, and Victoria Housing Estates’ other tenants.
“It is a matter of public confidence in the Charity Commission itself. This has been handled in such a way that we the tenants had no opportunity to input into these very important matters which concern us, our lives and our homes. They have affected us both financially and emotionally.”
