Finbar Furey Announces Belfast & Derry Shows

Following his sold out show in Belfast earlier this month Irish music legend Finbar Furey has announced two new Northern Ireland dates.

The 71-year-old multi-instrumentalist, composer, songwriter, storyteller and actor will take to the stage in Belfast and Derry in June to treat fans to a wealth of songs from his four decades in the music business.

Best known as the lead singer and uilleann pipes player for the Fureys, Finbar has always been at the forefront of musical change. His long career has also included film and TV appearances, including a singing role in the 2002 Martin Scorsese film Gangs of New York as well as the award-winning 2016 film The Wild Goose Lodge, for which he wrote and played the music.

After thirty years touring the world with his brothers, introducing new audiences to the band’s music, Finbar embarked on a solo career to pursue a new life as a singer, writer and producer.

To coincide with the tour, Finbar’s latest album Paddy Dear, which topped the Irish Charts in 2017, will be released in the UK, with new songs and a bonus Live DVD of Finbar performing at Vicar Street, Dublin. The new CD/DVD release newly titled Don’t Stop Me Now will be released on March 30th 2018 by BMG and distributed in the UK via Absolute.

Fans can expect an intimate setting at all shows and to be treated to Finbar’s rare talents as he brings pure Irish music and humour to the stage.

The line-up for the tour will be Finbar Furey (Vocals, 5-string Banjo, Guitar, Whistle, Uileann pipes), Peter Eades (Piano, Electric Guitar, Strings, Cuatro, Backing Vocals) and Paul O’Driscoll (Double Bass, Backing Vocals).

Tickets for Finbar Furey at the Millennium Forum, Derry on June 7 and Belfast’s Ulster Hall on June 8 are on sale now from www.millenniumforum.co.uk and www.ulsterhall.co.uk
