Monochrome Fashion – For The Timeless Wardrobe

When it comes to fashion, there is one thing we know for sure – fashion trends may come and go, but monochrome reigns supreme.

While styles may change from season to season, staple black and white pieces are classic and elegant, and can be dressed up, or worn casual, depending on the occasion.

Whether you prefer an edgy and alternative look, clean-cut and smart, or casual and carefree, monochrome is always wearable and can be teamed with a simple pop of colour to be that little bit more eye-catching.

Black and white stripes are sticking around for Spring/Summer 2018, but expect to see a lot of black and white polka dot prints as opposed to your usual spring florals. Ensembles that channel Parisian chic are also going to be all over the high street, with black and white colour blocking with monochromatic accent detail.

As fashion mogul, Karl Lagerfeld, once said: “One is never over-dressed or under-dressed with a Little Black Dress”. While we completely agree with Karl, we also think that teaming the LBD with white accents takes the look to a whole new level.

From March 22-25, Northern Ireland’s top models will take to the catwalk for a four-day fashion festival that celebrates the best in local retail and design talent.

West Coast Cooler FASHIONWEEK is back for its twenty-fifth season, showcasing the best that Spring/Summer 2018 has to offer, and it seems that monochrome is making a reappearance.

Spotted at the FASHIONWEEK launch last week rocking monochrome were:

Aoife Mulvenna: wore a tailored trouser with relaxed fit blazer, finishing the androgynous-styled outfit off with a killer pair of heels.

Donna McCabe: opted for a whimsical and feminine look that was complimented by a feather-detail bag (expect feathers to also make a big appearance this season).

Lauren Foley: rocked monochrome in a statement dress that used clashing stripe and spotted prints.
