Belfast Vital is back once again this year with superstar DJ Martin Garrix making his return to the capital as the blockbuster headliner.
The Dutch star will be accompanied by some very special guests as around 40,000 people flock to Boucher Road Playing Fields for the last big party of the summer. Taking to the stage before him are dance music icon Steve Angello, Swedish singer and songwriter Zara Larsson, Irish band Chasing Abbey and explosive new pop star Loop.
It’s been a whirlwind number of years for Martin, (real name Martijn Garritsen) since he burst onto the scene as a fresh faced 17 year old. His debut dance hit Animals hit number No. 1 in the UK and recently went platinum. The 22 year old hasn’t looked back since then, touring the world and headline major festivals such as Coachella, Lollapalooza, Ultra Music Festival and Tomorrowland.
Garrix attracts plaudits for his ability to appeal to a wider audience. Not satisfied with just producing electronic dance hits such as ‘Byte’ and ‘Tremor’ he has also, like his idols David Guetta and Tiesto ventured into the world of pop and the mainstream, collaborating with both as well as other megastars such as, Avicii and Dua Lipa.
If 2013 was his breakthrough year, 2016 and 2017 were the years in which Martin cemented himself as an icon in the industry picking up the #1 spot on DJ Mag’s Top 100 for the past two years and it’s likely he will make it a hat-trick this autumn.
Despite his busy schedule last year Martin was able to squeeze in a phenomenal Belsonic show to a sold out crowd at Ormeau Park in June and if you attended that show you can expect more of the same next Saturday. There will be stunning visuals, plenty of pyro and hit after hit played. Since that warm Monday evening last summer Garrix has gone on to release some more great radio and dance singles.
Fans attending this year at Boucher Road will no doubt be treated to some of these tracks including the stunning song ‘So Far Away’ featuring David Guetta, Jamie Scott & Romy Dya, his newest radio hit ‘Ocean’ which has vocals from American singer Khalid and his latest progressive house tune ‘High on Life’ along with Bonn, the ultimate euphoric EDM track.
As if this wasn’t enough to get you excited the warm up acts are some of the most sought after stars in music. Legendary DJ Steve Angello, formerly a member of the Swedish House Mafia will get the party started before Zara Larsson makes her second appearance in Belfast after playing the Waterfront Hall in October.
Tickets are running low so make sure you get yours now from Ticketmaster to ensure you don’t miss out on the biggest party of the summer.
