By day Northern Ireland singer Patricia McCluney is a scientist working in the Agri-food and Biosciences industry.
From testing for infectious diseases and research to diagnostic work the Country Antrim mum of two can usually be found in a lab coat surrounded by test tubes, microscopes and other scientists.
However, by night Patricia, 36, transforms into Northern Ireland’s newest tribute star.
Earlier this year Patricia began performing and impersonating one of country music’s top stars – Shania Twain.
She revealed: “During the day I’m a Quality Auditor. I used to work in the labs all day myself but when I got pregnant my boss decided they didn’t want to take any risks of me working around potential infectious diseases and other bacteria.
“Whilst it’s perfectly safe and everything is always done in a controlled environment, it was better to be safe than sorry.
“Now I work alongside the scientists in the labs ensuring that all work is complying with ISO standards which ensures the validity and safety of the testing that goes on.
“I’ve always loved music, singing is a real passion for me. My parents were in the hospitality and entertainment business so they were always really supportive of my live of music.
“I had been singing in my parent’s club with live bands before auditioning with an agent and landing a spot with a two-piece live act when I was 18.
“Over the years people would tell me that I sounded like Shania, and I never really thought much about it.
“Then this year I was looking for a new challenge, I wanted to do something different with music and that’s when I decided to give Shania a go.
“The response has been phenomenal, I’m so grateful for everyone’s encouragement. Even the other tribute stars on the local scene have really helped me and offered me advice and more.”
A regular on the cover scene in pubs, clubs and hotels Patricia, who lives in Newtownabbey, manages all that with her young family of two young children and job.
“It can be a juggling act” she said, adding: “but when you get the audience reaction and the appreciation of other singers and musicians it is all worth it.”
And her work is reaching well beyond Northern Ireland.
“My most recent work as The Shania Twain Tribute was on my promotional video with Buzz Media Production with Brian Giffen from The Untouchables.
“It has been very well received and Brian said he got offers of work from all over including across the UK and even where Shania is from in Canada.”
In the meantime Patricia is gearing up for another run of shows as The Shania Twain Tribute in Belfast’s Crumlin Star and Sports Club as part of a double-bill and another set of special Christmas shows at the city’s plush Ten Square Hotel.
Patricia will perform at the Crumlin Star and Sports Club on October 27 (alongside Dolly Parton tribute Kirsty Coard). Fans of Shania can also see her live at TenSq in Belfast throughout the Christmas season.
