Belfast based cover trio The Joel Harris Band brought their exceptional set to the John Hewitt Bar on Friday night.
Covering a range of iconic crowd-pleasers from artists such as Prince, Stevie Wonder, Dolly Parton, Men at Work, and Bob Marley to name a few they effortlessly delivered each song with their own style twist.
Fronted by lead singer and guitarist Joel Harris, with Ross Bickerstaff on drums, and Chris McConville on bass, their performance was testament to the dedication and hours of practice which have gone in to perfecting their sound.
“Everybody works hard,” said Joel. “We do a lot of blues and rock stuff and try to mix it up and do it in our own little way.”
With his sights set firmly on a successful career in music, Joel is currently working on original material.
“I’m writing a lot at the minute, groovy songs with good melodies, nice harmonies and strong guitar features. It’s what we do best.”
Currently booked out every weekend until September performing their covers at pubs around Northern Ireland, The Joel Harris Band eventually aim to tour further afield.
“We have a few original tunes in the works, but at the minute we’re just enjoying getting out there and touring the scene,” said Joel.
Cited by UberRock as being on his way to becoming “the best new blues/rock guitarist to emerge from this part of the world in a generation”, front man Joel also has a vocal talent that rivals many established bands from Northern Ireland and beyond.
Supported by the equally gifted McConville and Bickerstaff, this trio are set to be one of the breakthrough artists of 2019. For details on their upcoming performance dates, check them out on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/joelharrismusic/
