The Killers will play to a Belfast crowd for the first time since 2017 when they take to the stage at Belsonic on Tuesday 25th June.
The Las Vegas band’s last show in the capital was to a packed crowd at the SSE Arena but their sold out Ormeau Park show in just over two weeks time will be the group’s biggest in Northern Ireland to date. The group have achieved international success with five chart-topping albums and performances in over 50 countries in 6 different continents, headlining iconic venues such as Wembley Stadium as well as selling out Madison Square Gardens three times.
The Nevada natives, who won ‘Best International Group’ at the Brit Awards in 2017 are seen as one of the biggest rock bands of the century. They rose to prominence with their hit single ‘Mr Brightside’, which was released in 2003 and spent 203 weeks in the UK Singles Charts, the longest charting single of all time.
They are the only group to have all five of their studio albums debut at number one on the UK Album Charts and have sold over 25 million copies of the album worldwide. They have had countless other hit songs through the years, most notably ‘Somebody Told Me’, ‘All These Things I’ve Done’ and ‘When You Were Young’.  They are also set to headline Glastonbury after their Belsonic gig, serving to reinforce their status as one of the biggest groups in the world.
Their last album ‘Wonderful Wonderful’ was released in 2017 and was The Killers’ first record to reach number one on the US Billboard 200, whilst the band confirmed last year that they were in the process of making their sixth album to the delight of many fans. Their recent single ‘Land of the Free’, released in January of this year has amassed over 2.6 million views.
They have great support for their sold-out show with rising singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi on the bill. The Scottish star has enjoyed mainstream success in his short career so far with his hit single ‘Someone You Loved’ (released in 2018) reaching number one on the UK Singles Chart. His debut album ‘Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent’ was released last month and received rave reviews as well as reaching number one in the UK and Ireland Album Charts.
He has already supported huge acts such as Sam Smith, Niall Horan, Kodaline and Rag’n’bone Man on tours across the world and is currently supporting Bastille on their 2019 tour. He will embark on his own tour later this year after playing four of his own back to back sold out tours. He is known for his heavy social media presence, with humorous videos and fan interaction common on his Instagram account which has over 2.4 million followers. Make sure that if you are going you get down early enough to see Lewis’ performance as he never fails to disappoint with his stunning live vocals.Â
For all those who managed to get tickets, it promises to be a memorable evening of music in the city.Â
