Today I want to talk all things summer fashion, whilst many of us may not be heading away on our long awaited summer holidays, there is no reason why you shouldn’t still enjoy the summer weather at home. One thing I love to do is change up my wardrobe for the summer and incorporate new styles and trends. So here are my top five trends for my wardrobe:
PastelsÂ
Forget bright over the top colours this season and think pastels; lilac, mint, powder blue and baby pink are on trend right now and it’s very easy to wear this trend. The muted tones of these popular pastel colours make them easy to pair with many items you’ll already have in your wardrobe. And if you are someone who doesn’t wear much colour in their outfits you can even switch up a plain white/black dress with pastel accessories such as a bag or pair of shoes. The possibilities are endless.Â
Ditsy Floral PrintsÂ
Floral prints are a must for summer and this year it’s all about delicate ditsy floral prints. These prints work great on dresses and tops and will instantly make your outfit look summer ready. You could try a gorgeous maxi dress or even a simple top paired with jeans. If you wanted to go all out you could even pair multiple floral prints together in complementary colours.
DeminÂ
I think denim is something everyone has in their wardrobe and is basically appropriate for any season, but for summer I like to go for a lighter wash or white denim jean. This will match easily with any summer outfit I’m putting together, making it the perfect staple piece. If you are feeling extra daring you might even try double denim, I like to pair denim jeans and a denim jacket together for a matchy and put together look.Â
Sporty ChicÂ
Whilst not many of us might be playing sports at the minute, that doesn’t mean sportswear is gone for good. Polo shirts and tennis skirts are the new off-court attire and are great pieces to add to your wardrobe. A polo shirt especially is such a simple item to style and can be worn with a pair of jeans and trainers for a laid back yet stylish look.
LoungewearÂ
With most of us having spent the last 4 months in lockdown, loungewear is the new normal now. Sweats and tracksuits are the uniform for this summer and comfy is the new chic. Why not be comfortable in your own home whilst lounging in the garden? And don’t think that tracksuits have to be grey and boring, they come in all shades and colours and my personal favourite is my bright blue one.Â
Prairie StyleÂ
Smock style dresses are very popular this season and I think they are just perfect for the hot weather as they are light and floaty. You can opt for a plain style dress in white or black or go all out with florals and ruffles. These dresses can be paired with a chunky belt and boots for a western inspired look or a straw hat and sandals for a more relaxed summer holiday look.Â
ScarvesÂ
Scarves in summer? Yes really, scarves are one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your wardrobe as there are so many different ways to wear them. There are a variety of different ways to tie a simple patterned scarf into a chic top to change up your look. Or simply drape it round your neck for an added layer which is perfect for the Northern Ireland summer.Â
