Something I think is so important is to support people who are really doing something they love and I know that many small businesses will have suffered from having to close up shop during lockdown. Therefore, when I start to make my way back onto the highstreet I will certainly be rushing to small and family owned businesses before I step foot into any big retailer. Here are some easy and simple ways you can help to support small businesses:Â
Like, Share and CommentÂ
Everyone knows the power of social media today, therefore simply sharing a post from a small business can go a long way in gaining them new customers. It’s something that is free and you can do from the comfort of your own bed, but simply by doing this you can really help out a small business to gain exposure.
Do a Good Deed
Make a point of heading to a small business after lockdown and buying something, even if you don’t need anything just think of it as a good deed to go out and support a local business. It will make you feel good about yourself knowing that you have contributed to helping a business get back on its feet.
Treat Someone
If you are buying a present or gift for someone consider how you can buy this from a small or local shop. There are many craft and handmade shops around Northern Ireland that are the perfect place to pick up a lovely gift for someone, as well as supporting a local business.Â
Make New habitsÂ
Once lockdown is over it can be easy to fall back into old habits of just doing your weekly big shop in a supermarket. However consider shopping local for some of your essentials, make use of your local bakery, greengrocers and butchers as a way to make sure they stay in business.Â
Hire Self Employed Services
If you are in need of services for your business or just for yourself. Think about hiring someone self employed, this could be a photographer for your event or even just an electrician to help around the house.
