Coming out of lockdown can be a scary thought for many people and it’s important to try and keep a positive mindset. Although I know it can be an anxious time for some, there are some ways you can stay positive. Here are some top tips:
Take Baby Steps
If starting to go back to normality is a scary thought for you, take baby steps. You shouldn’t feel pressured to do everything at once. Take your time to readjust to the new normal. Even take one step a day to going out to the shops or meeting friends outdoors again. And remember that you don’t have to go out just yet if you aren’t ready.
Write Done Positive Affirmations
I think it really helps to write down 3 positive things that have happened during lockdown or in your week, to try and remember the positive in life. It can be easy to focus on the negative and let it take over your mind so it’s important to focus on the positive things.
Meditate
Meditation is a great way to keep a positive mindset and it’s something you can do anywhere. I found that I now spend a lot of time waiting around in queues, so I use this time to meditate and that helps me relax and feel more calm during the trips I need to make.
Think Of Positivity Given/Received
Think about positivity you gave or received during lockdown, it was a time when our nation really came together and helped each other. Ask yourself did you clap for carers or help your neighbour with some groceries or did you simply stay at home. These things made a positive impact on someone else and should make you feel good about yourself.
Write Down Nighttime Worries
I always keep a pen and paper beside my bed at night and if anything is worrying me or I have something on my mind preventing me from sleeping I write it down. I can then reflect on it in the morning and rationalise it.
Take Precautions
When going out it’s still important to take precautions and be safe, this will help to put your mind at ease that you are being careful. Always remember to carry your mask and hand sanitiser, to avoid panicking later.
