The survey reveals that ‘Abbey Road’ by The Beatles has the most iconic album cover of all time, with the Fab Four strolling across a zebra crossing being a famous piece of pop culture imagery. 95% of the respondents picked it as their favourite.

In second place is Pink Floyd’s classic album ‘Dark Side of the Moon’ with 87%.

Interestingly, the self-titled album by The Velvet Underground and Nico is not widely listened to (24%). However, the striking bright yellow banana cover has clearly caught the eye of our respondents, at 64% of the vote.

In last place is the cover of ‘Born in the USA’ by Bruce Springsteen, with the Boss’ 1984 record receiving 37% of the vote in the final poll. 41% of People have listened to this album.

How Many Of These Albums Have You Listened To?

Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Rumours’ is the most listened to album in the top ten (69%). This isn’t really surprising, with ‘Go Your Own Way’ having 131 million views on YouTube!

Just over half (51%) of People have listened to ‘Abby Road’, despite it being voted the most iconic album cover.

One of the least listened to albums is ‘Aladdin Sane’ by David Bowie. This record had a listen rate of 37%, which suggests sometimes the album art can be more iconic than the music itself. Other Bowie albums like Ziggy Stardust or Heroes are perhaps Bowie’s more musically recognisable albums.
