Trisha McCluney is a 38 year old tribute artist to musical sensation, Cher. Trisha has been performing from a young age when she used to steal the show at her parent’s local residents club. Trisha took her love for Cher and her love for performing and turned it into a legendary Cher tribute act.
What genre / style do you create in?
Rock and pop as per the tribute.
What would you be best known for?
Cher tribute in Northern Ireland.
What would you consider your biggest achievement?
Within just over a year and a half of doing this I’ve been nominated & now finalist at National Entertainment Awards for Best Tribute Act. Also I’m one of the support acts for Gloria Gaynor at Northbound Sounds Festival next year with my live band.
What would you consider to be the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your industry?
To just keep focused on what you want to achieve. Set yourself goals and keep working hard to achieve them. Don’t compare yourself to anyone else either.
What has been your biggest challenge to date?
I would say juggling the work and home life. It can be very difficult (obviously pre-covid I’m talking about here) to miss out on birthdays and family events it’s a sacrifice that comes with the territory sometimes though.
Tell us a little about your personal life, are you married, kids, hobbies etc?
Married with 2 children (Thomas, 6 and Sophie, 3).

Tell us about your most recent work?
When restaurants were allowed to open again in July, I performed in the Cabaret Supperclub in Belfast behind a perspex screen. It felt a bit strange but it was good to be out working again.
What would you like us to tell people about?
My live band promo coming out soon and how we are supporting the Queen of a disco Gloria Gaynor next year! A Very big deal for us.

If you had to describe your work to someone who has never heard of you what would you say?
I would say I work as a Cher impersonator and tribute act and this means recreating shows to give audiences as close as an experience as possible to the real Cher.
What’s the funniest experience you’ve had in your business?
I’ve had someone think I was a drag queen once.
What would your advice be to young people hoping to pursue the same industry?
If someone wants to be a tribute act I’d say to them that they need to accept that they need to invest a lot of money for costumes and wigs and time if they want to be taken in any way seriously. It cannot be done half hearted.
Who do you look up to and why?
Why Cher of course!
Trisha took part in this years Culture Night Belfast 2020 you can check out her performance as part of the Showcase Acts here >> culturenightbelfast.com/cnb-showcase-essentially-cher/
