With the continuing success of Belfast Photo Festival, 2021 will see photographers offered the chance to compete to win a host of prizes, awards and benefits.
From exhibiting in the main gallery, alongside world renowned photographers, through to seeing their work taken on tour to be exhibited at the 2022 Photo Schwiez (Zurich, Switzerland.
A number will also have the opportunity to be featured in the arts magazines Abridged and GUP.
In addition winners will be eligible for a £2,000 cash prize, a year’s free membership of the prestigious Royal Photographic Society, the GUP Editorial Award with full editorial presentation in an upcoming printed/digital issue of GUP photographic magazine, as well as the Abridged Editorial Award with inclusion in a special Festival issue of Abridged Magazine.
All finalists who submitted photographs will have their work produced by the Festival for exhibition outdoors at no cost to the photographer/artist.
The theme has been left open to remove any restrictions. Submissions must be photographic or lens-based but can include incorporations of other art forms with the photographic medium (for example performance, painting, sculpture, music, literature etc).
Individuals and collectives are welcome to apply; individuals should select and enter between one and 15 photographs from a particular series or body of work and/or submit their Photo-book for exhibition by providing a link to a single PDF (stored on for example: Google Drive or Dropbox).
Belfast Photo Festival has invited a panel of influential international experts in the field of photography to assist in the shortlisting and selection of artists alongside the Festival team.
These range from museum curators, commissioning editors, photo agency representatives from four continents.
