Meet The Blogger: Katie

Katie (27) is a Fabric Sales Assistant from Lisburn. Her lifestyle blog Life With Ktkinnes offers advice on wellness, self-love, and self-acceptance, as well as book reviews, TV and film recommendations.

Why did you decide to become a blogger/influencer?

I felt I needed somewhere to be able to talk during a time when I had very few friends. I figured I might not be the only person struggling through life, and knowing someone else felt the same might help others, so started blogging

Tell us something your followers might not already know about you?

When I was younger, I dreamt of opening my own small boarding school! I was going to buy one of those old Victorian houses with the servants’ quarters to convert into bedrooms, and teach 14 students; that was the plan anyway!

What would you consider your biggest achievement as a blogger/influencer?

Publishing my Blogmas ebook and planner, and actually making 14 sales in the first month of it being published!

What would you consider the biggest lesson you’ve learnt in the industry?

Be true to yourself and your content. I spent two years trying to make my blog into what I thought people wanted rather than sticking to what I know and love.

What has been your biggest challenge to date?

Instagram! I just don’t understand how people can post even once daily, never mind multiple times a day!

Do you feel that bloggers are unfairly judged at times, if so why?

Sometimes yes. There’s a perception that we’re all in it for free stuff, and that once you write an article and publish you’re done. People seem to judge you if you say one post took you 4 hours to complete, and you’re constantly aware that anything you say or do online could attract the trolls.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to start a blog/instagram page?

Go for it! But be sure to read up on Search Engine Optimisation and Domain Authority before you start so that you aren’t sitting six years later with 670 posts to update!

What local blogger do you look up to and why?

Cathy from The F Words. I love her content, and catching up on her Instagram stories are the highlight of my day!

What international blogger do you look up to and why?

Ray from The Ray Journey. Ray seems to know so much, and she really does stay true to herself in her posts!
