Meet The Blogger: Niamh Wallace

Niamh Wallace the 22 year old from Belfast works in Marketing and Resourcing. She runs a blog: Books are Brain Food where she shares about books, reading and learning.

Why did you decide to become a blogger/influencer?

I wanted to create a place where people can go to get reliable book recommendations with backed up rationale. Inspiring people to pick up a book is one of my key goals, I want to show that it can be just as quick and easy as putting on Netflix.

Creating a community where people can chat freely about what they are reading and give their opinions about different books is a priority for me.

Tell us something your followers might not already know about you?

I have met almost the entire Game of Thrones cast when I worked in a shop in Belfast and Sophie Turner let me pet her dog!

What would you consider your biggest achievement as a blogger/influencer?

Making a YouTube channel! I struggle with public speaking so this was a challenge but I’m so glad I did it.

What would you consider the biggest lesson you’ve learnt in the industry?

Work at your own pace and don’t try to rush ahead , results come from slow steady building.

What has been your biggest challenge to date?

Balancing my blog with daily life is tough sometimes but I love it too much to stay away for long.

Do you feel that bloggers are unfairly judged at times, if so why?

Putting yourself online can be judged as attention seeking, when a lot of the time it’s about creating interesting conversations about topics you might not get to chat about with your friends and family.

What advice would you give to someone wanting to start a blog/instagram page?

Do it and stick to it! People will support you and enjoying the process shines through your work.

What local blogger do you look up to and why?

Sian McQuillan as she posts a lot of great content promoting body positivity and it’s so important to see online.

What international blogger do you look up to and why?

Sanne from Books and Quills because she makes great book content and inspires me to change up what I read!
