Lucille Hamilton(23) is a Self Published Author from Northern Ireland.
Her love for creating stories began as a child, but her entrance to the industry came with her first book, ‘Grandma GG’s Magic Soup Kitchen’.
The motivation came from a place of questioning her potential, Lucille wanted to see if she could do it, so she went for it, and the story almost seemed to write itself.
What genre / style do you create in?
I struggle to restrict myself to one particular genre, two of my books are Children’s novellas, however, my latest work takes the form of a completely different genre. My new book ‘TAKE A BREAK’ consists of a compilation of thrilling, dark and mysterious short stories.
What would you be best known for?
My best selling book is a magical, Christmas fantasy novella, ‘The Christmas Clock’, published November 2019.
What would you consider your biggest achievement?
My biggest achievement is believing in myself and taking action, because without that, none of my stories would have came to life.
What would you consider to be the biggest lesson you’ve learned in your industry?
The biggest lesson is realising that the writing is the easy part in this industry. The hard part is everything that comes next.
What has been your biggest challenge to date?
Of all my challenges, the greatest challenge I must constantly overcome is turning this creative mind into a business mind. The creativity isn’t enough, it may be art, but it is also a business.
Tell us a little about your personal life, are you married, kids, hobbies etc?
At 23 years old, my main focus is to be happy and enjoy my life. My goal is to look back at my 20s as a decade of trying new things, travelling (pre and hopefully post Covid-19) and spending as much time with my loved ones as possible. If 2020 has taught us anything, it’s to roll with the punches and not sweat the small stuff. My hobbies are anything that involves a little creativity, oh and I love to sing!
Tell us about your most recent work?
My most recent work is my new book, ‘TAKE A BREAK’, a thrilling read involving stories concerning some very serious social issues in today’s society, murder, mystery, love and revenge. This compilation of short stories are intended to entertain you absolutely, but they are also a lot more than that; I want my words to make you think and to make you feel. The majority of the stories in this book are narrated by a strong female voice. This book contains eleven very different stories, a little something for everyone.
What would you like us to tell people about?
All of my books are available on the Amazon store. As we are in the festive season, ‘The Christmas Clock’ would be a great buy during this time of year. I am also in the midst of creating my own website to sell art prints and greeting cards that I have personally designed, so watch this space!
If you had to describe your work to someone who has never heard of you what would you say?
I would describe my work as an explosion of imagination, passion and stories that transport you; within every piece of work, there is a new world waiting to be explored.
What’s the funniest experience you’ve had in your business?
The funniest experience I’ve had in my business, is walking into a classroom of children and having to respond to statements such as, ‘How famous are you?’ and ‘You must be really rich!’ You’ve got to laugh at their innocence.
What would your advice be to young people hoping to pursue the same industry?
My advice is, never give up on yourself and never give up on your passion. If someone else isn’t making it happen for you, then you’ve got to make it happen for yourself. When you put your mind to it, you would be surprised what you can achieve. Your biggest supporter must always be you. When you come to a hurdle, jump over it, don’t let it trip you up.
Anything else you want to tell people about yourself or your work?
I would like to tell people that they will be seeing a lot more from me. There will be a lot of projects and a lot of stories in my future, but for now, they can visit my author page on amazon and see what I’ve done so far. You never know, one of my books could be their new favourite. All books are available in both paperback and ebook versions.
I also write a blog ‘Life with Lucille’ on WordPress, regarding how to be positive and how to live a happy life. We can’t always control it, but we can do what we can to help it, so if anyone is in need of some inspiration, head over to read some of my blogs – happinessandlivingalifethatsgoodforyou.com
Who do you look up to and why?
I look up to my parents, because no matter what life throws at them, or how many curveballs they face, they have always raised my two sisters and I to believe in ourselves and go after what we want in life.
