Without a shadow of a doubt, you should sink your teeth into the hilariously terrifying rendition of the Irish legend of Abarhtach the vampire.
Set in County Tyrone, the cast from Boys From County Hell deliver a humorous and uniquely Northern Irish performance in their quest to slay the recently arisen vampire and urban legend, Abarhtach.
The locally produced film creates a haunting and mysterious opening, as we are met with the bleeding eyes of an elderly couple. Soon after, the real tone of the film is conveyed as we get to witness the hilarious script unfold, an unusual mix for a horror film.
The eerie tale takes part in the small, secluded town of Six Mile Hill which is known globally for its haunting history of Abarhtah the Vampire. The film’s frontrunners Eugene (Jack Rowan), William (Fra Free) and Claire (Lousia Harland) openly mock the myth, laughing at tourists who travel to see Abarhtach’s burial site.
On a drunken stroll home, Eugene and William accidentally awaken the beginnings of the spooky happenings across a family building site by falling into Abarhtach’s stony grave.
The ancient burial site lays within the plans of a newly proposed highway, with the construction of the road leading to the destruction of the grave. Once destroyed, the team unknowingly wreak havoc upon the town by freeing the vengeful bloodsucker, accidentally developing their own highway to hell.
The film creates an array of emotions with twists and turns throughout. The gripping script, beautiful surroundings and fantastic delivery from the cast make an engaging and memorable experience for the viewer.
Boys From County Hell was written and directed by Chris Baugh, also known for ‘Bad Day For The Cut’ and ‘Tin Star’. Chris is also the owner of Six Mile Hill Productions, based in Belfast City centre.
