News in Brief: Lord Ashcroft Reveals That A Majority Of People Think NI Will Quit The Union In A Decade

A new survey from pollster and Tory peer, Lord Ashcroft, has revealed that a majority of people think Northern Ireland will quit the union in a decade.

The survey, based on interviews with over 3,300 people found that if a referendum were held tomorrow, most people would not vote for a united Ireland by 54% to 46%.

However, more 7 in 10 voters aged under 25 said that they would vote for a united Ireland, and only 64% of unionists thought Northern Ireland would choose the UK in 10 years time.
