Belfast Rated One Of Best Places In The UK For A City Break, Exam Results Helpline Launched And Smash Hit Musical SIX Returns To Belfast

Belfast rated one of best places in the UK for a city break

Belfast has been recognised as one of the best big cities for a UK getaway in 2022.

Research carried out by Which? has ranked our capital city as their second favourite place to visit this year. It follows closely behind York who took the top spot and was followed closely by Edinburgh in third place.

Earlier this year Which? members completed an online survey about UK towns and cities they had visited for leisure purposes in the past year and stayed in for at least one night. They asked members to rate the food, accommodation, sights and attractions, level of crowds, and value for money at destinations across the UK.

Belfast gained an overall rating of 85%, just 1% less than the top-rated city. It is the only large city to score five stars for its lack of crowds on the list and was rated five stars for its food and drink offerings.

The average price of a hotel was also reported to be £111 with accommodation and cultural sites taking a four-star rating.

Newtownabbey metal packaging facility set to create around 200 new jobs

A new one hundred and fifty million pound drinks canning plant is set to create around 200 jobs on the outskirts of Belfast.

It comes after Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s planning committee approved one of the biggest investments in advanced manufacturing in Northern Ireland.

Ardagh Metal Packaging intends to build the innovative 42,585 square meter facility at Invest NI’s Newtownabbey site at Global Point Business Park.

The state-of-the-art Co Antrim plant will serve its growing customer base in Ireland, the UK and Europe, while continuing to supply key customers Diageo and Coca Cola.

Northern Ireland exam results helpline details released ahead of A level announcement

Northern Ireland’s examinations body, the Council for the Curriculum, Examinations and Assessment (CCEA), has announced details of its helpline for students ahead of this week’s A level results.

On Thursday morning, over 25,000 pupils will receive their A level and AS results, and while grades are expected to fall back from the teacher awarded grades of last year, there are still mitigations in place to allow for the disruption pupils have coped with during their studies.

Almost 60,000 students will be receiving their results this year across all disciplines.

On A level results day on Thursday the helpline will open at 8am and will be in operation until 9th September.

Anyone with queries regarding CCEA results can call 028 9026 1260, email [email protected], or log onto www.ccea.org.uk/resultsday2022
