Get your Christmas season off to a musical start with NI Opera’s lunchtime Christmas Concert

Northern Ireland Opera will be holding their annual Christmas Concert in First Church Belfast on 30th November 2022 from 1.15 to 2pm.  This annual event provides an opportunity for company artists and members of NI Opera’s artist development programme to perform right in the heart of Belfast’s city centre.

This year, tenor Aaron O’Hare, a past winner of NI Opera’s Glenarm Festival of Voice Competition who performed the role of Schaunard in NI Opera’s 2021 production of ‘La Bohème’, will be joined by three members of NI Opera’s new Chorus Development Programme.

Soprano Susan Shepherd, mezzo Jenny Bourke and bass Matthew Jeffery have been part of NI Opera’s intensive performance programme over the summer in the build-up to ‘La Traviata’. Regular and guest vocal coaches have worked with 24 artists selected from open auditions on opera performance in the build-up to NI Opera’s acclaimed production of ‘La Traviata’ which sold out the Grand Opera House in September this year. Pianist Tristan Russcher will accompany the singers in a repertoire which will include carols and festive songs.

Tickets for the Christmas Concert are £10 each and proceeds will support NI Opera’s Artist Development Programme which trains, mentors and provides performance and employment opportunities for artists in Northern Ireland both on stage and behind-the-scenes.
