Asda Shore Road Grocery colleague, Les Kerr is celebrating 30 years of service at the store.
57-year-old Les is well known for ‘always having a smile on his face’ and being a ‘listening ear’ for his colleagues and customers.
Les began his career as a cleaner when he was just 27 years old, he said: “ I remember starting my first shift like it was yesterday! Over the past 30 years, I have seen a lot of changes happening at the store and also been able to progress in my career and really love my job as a Grocery colleague.”
“My favourite part of the role is the friends you make along the way. Every day is different, but I have been so lucky to have a family here at Asda! My colleagues are just fantastic, and I have made so many good friends.”
Reflecting on his time at Asda, Les has also played his part in fundraising and doing his bit to support the community.
Les continued: “One of my most cherished memories is when my colleagues and I came together to raise vital funds for BBC Children in Need. We held bucket collections in store and raised over £13,000 for the charity – definitely one of my proudest achievements!”
The Shore Road team organised a celebration with tea, cake and pastries before Store Manager, Rodger Croskery presented Les with a card and gift voucher to celebrate his 30 years of service.
Rodger said: “Les always has a smile on his face and you’ll always see him chatting to our customers and doing all he can to help. We are so proud of Les, and he is a much-loved member of our team at Asda Shore Road. Thank you, Les!”
Looking ahead to the future, Les plans to retire next year but will always have a place in his heart for Asda.
He said: “I’ve got know my colleagues and customers so well over the years and I look forward to coming to work every day. It’s been a real pleasure to work at Asda Shore Road, I’ll never be a stranger even when I retire!”
