You know as a recruiter that the hiring process is something that works two ways. You cannot hire the best candidates unless you have good job adverts that attract them in the first place, and the candidates that come through your doors really do need to impress you to get anywhere. As a hiring manager, you are going to be the one to showcase the roles and clients you have, and it’s super important that you do what you can to improve the process for yourself and for clients.
Hiring takes time and effort, and one of the best ways that you can improve your efforts in recruitment is to make sure that your process is as efficient as possible. From using recruitment software to help you to narrow down your candidates to making the process faster, your improvements will make a big difference to those experiencing it. So, how can you improve the process and make recruitment easier?
- Look at streamlining. You can streamline your processes by first, reducing the number of decision makers in the hiring process.there never needs to be a three stage interview process – ever. You’re only going to waste the time of your candidates and your client. You should be able to ensure that candidates have the best support during the process with just one interview before they see the client.
- Shout your referral programs from the rooftops. The best way to get excellent candidates is to ensure that you have excellent success stories. Your current employees or newly placed candidates are going to be a font of knowledge for you and you would do better by asking them for a referral. All you then need to do is ensure that you offer a great outcome for all candidates who are referred and then placed.
- Network, network, network. Hosting and attending events in person gives you a space to meet new clients while also meeting new candidates. This is what you want to achieve: creating connections. If you attend industry events for your hiring industries, you’ll meet the right people and you can also head to job fairs. This will get your name out there in recruitment to ensure that you are in the best place to improve the full process.
- Have an excellent internal process for hiring. You can fill roles faster, increase job satisfaction and boost employee retention if you have an internal hiring process you can be proud of. Don’t be afraid to push some boundaries here, because all of this will work to increase job satisfaction and make it easier for your employees to choose to stay longer.
Your recruitment process for internal candidates is going to be as important as what you do for external candidates in the right roles. You have to think about both your client and candidate needs, and once you do this you can improve the overall process and make it much more efficient. Try the tips above and let us know if they work!
