Ain’t My Vibe is the new single from Northern Irish singer/songwriter Michelle Dowd. This is Dowd’s third single of the year following the pop/soul inspired track Healing and the dance smash Love is Love. The song was co-produced by Dowd alongside frequent collaborator and producer, Paul McNeilly. “There’s a juxtaposition between the music and the lyrics. Musically, it is a sexy and sensual piece but the lyrics are sad and bitter. Ain’t My Vibe is described by Dowd as a heartbreak song about every songwriter’s favorite theme; unrequited love. “I crushed hard on this guy for months and built up this image in my head that he was the perfect match for me, only to find out he wasn’t the guy I thought he was.” Dowd said.
Dowd released an accompanying music video for the song, filmed in the Northern Irish capital of Belfast, with Stormont Gardens as the video’s backdrop. It was filmed and directed by local talent Viki Young and Thomas McQuillan. You can watch this video here:
To top off a busy 2023, Dowd will record her second Christmas song, Kiss Me Santa, which is scheduled for release in early December, just in time for the Christmas season. Dowd will perform an intimate gig at Belfast’s famous Sunflower Bar in January 2024. “I’ll be 31 next January and I thought a gig would be a lovely way to celebrate my birthday. It’s also a belated celebration, marking 11 years of Michelle Dowd Music. I’m not signed to a label; I do all of this myself and it gives me a lot of power. 2024 also marks the release of The Remix Album, a reworking of some of Dowd’s songs from the past 11 years.
