Don’t have a big holiday budget to use this year? Don’t worry – you can still take time away! You just need to stick within the UK. And trust us, that’s no bad thing! Budget holiday destinations can be found up and down the UK, and you’ll never have to go far to find a place filled with history and culture. Here are some ideas that’ll give you a bit of inspiration for planning a budget UK holiday of your own.
Days Out on Brighton Coast
Brighton can be a pretty cheap place to visit if you stay on the coast side of the city. The pier itself doesn’t cost anything to enter and walk down, nor does the promenade or the beach. Bring your own items to use, like floats and a beach windbreaker, and only spend on the food you want to buy, like ice cream, beachside donuts, and fish and chips. Brighton is a pretty beautiful city when all is said and done, and you can capture some lovely shots of the ocean and cliff heads when you’re here.
Stay in a Haven Park
Haven Parks can be found all over the UK, and booking yourself a Haven Hideaway is a pretty good way to get yourself some cheap accommodation whilst still being able to come and go as you please. Plus, Haven Parks are pretty good for anyone who’s outdoorsy, or loves being in nature and taking part in social activities. For families, this is a very good way to waste some energy during the summer period, even when the usual ticket prices would be super high.
Visit York City Centre
York can be a very affordable city all round, but the city centre is where all the action is packed in. You can find a lot to do here, including the Jorvik centre, York Minster, and a number of museums, galleries, bars, cafes, and restaurants. There are a lot of free experiences on offer, or experiences with a very low entry fee, as York wants to encourage families to get out and about. If your family loves history and seeing it in action, this is where you need to go!
See the Blackpool Illuminations
The Blackpool illuminations are a big deal every year. The closest thing we have to seeing the Las Vegas lights without having to go thousands of miles, take the kids here and revel in the late night wonders of Blackpool sort of after dark. You can also visit the famous Pleasure Beach whilst you’re here – you can experience ‘all it has to offer’ for only £50! But if that’s not your thing, you can just visit the normal beach, have a low cost donkey ride with the kids, and go around the arcades and win little prizes.
Budget holidays are one thing the UK is good at! If you want to take your family out for a good time, you really don’t have to spend too much money!
